Q: Is sodium an area of focus or concern for KRAFT? Does KRAFT plan to reduce the sodium content of its products?
A: We are actively reviewing our products to see how we can improve nutrition profiles by reducing nutrients of public health concern, like sodium as well as calories, fats and sugars. Our goal is to make meaningful changes across a wide variety of products without sacrificing taste, quality or food safety. We're approaching sodium reduction on both a short and long term basis.

We have developed nutrition guidelines for new products that establish upper limits for calories, fats, cholesterol, sugars and sodium.

The application of these guidelines over time should help us enhance the overall nutrition of our product portfolio.

Also, in some markets, we already offer lower sodium or unsalted versions of some products, like nuts. Low sodium Stove Top Stuffing Chicken flavor; Oscar Mayer Lower Sodium Bacon; Planters Unsalted Mixed Nuts. Long term, we continue to explore technical solutions to reducing sodium in foods.

We are looking for ways to reduce the use of sodium while delivering products that meet our food safety standards and that consumers like.

We're engaged in a broad array of research programs internally and through suppliers, universities and research institutions.
