Q: CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest) petitioned the FDA to ban artificial food colors. What do you think of their actions?
A:
  • Two key regulatory agencies concluded there is no scientific basis that would warrant support for a ban on food colors. In fact, most recently, FDA conducted a comprehensive review of the UK Southampton study and determined that it did not warrant changes to current regulations or dietary habits.
  • As a result, we have no plans at this time to discontinue their use in the US but we continue to monitor and study new information regarding food colors as it becomes available.
